Hey Guys, I went to strip more insulation off my headwire but my strippers cut it off instead and left me with a minimal headwire, I had thought about putting on a butt connector and going fresh from there but I wasn't sure if it would work and I'm not sure I would get a strong solder joint if I try to solder it back on. What are my options? I get 39 on my ohm meter currently but I'm assuming thats because of the short headwire. Attached Image (viewed 851 times):

A shorter wire wont effect the ohm reading. Looks like you have enough to solder to. Use shrink tubing or liqued tape to insulate, I recommend you do not use tape. Last edited on Sun Nov 1st, 2009 12:26 pm by Ralph Bliss |

What could be effecting it then? I'm assuming since I've got a reading at all I don't have a short, could it be because the brass hub for the internal switch isn't wired up?

The brass contact has nothing to with the continuity, as long as the contact part of the switch has a good connection. If you do not have continuity between the 2 wires going to the contact of the start switch the windings are bad. I see 4 wires, what is the resistance between each set of wires? Yeah, I don't know why I got 39 before on the headwires, I must have been touching a dirty spot. I'll do another check before I wire it up tommorrow. ![]()
