Fred, you get both a gold star and
a smiley face on top of your paper.

Brother Frank was one of
the original fan collectors.

Okay, so it's off-topic since it's not a fan, but what the heck, I think it's interesting: I restore antique Hamilton watches for a living, and of course collect them. I recently acquired one that is engraved as a presentation to then-Senator Lyndon Johnson in 1958.

Through the LBJ Library I was able to confirm he was indeed at the event where the watch was presented (in West Virginia), and the presentation is referenced on the program for the dinner.

But the clincher was finding well over a dozen clear photos showing him wearing the watch all the way through the 1960 campaigns, first running for President himself, then as Kennedy's VP nominee. He clearly loved it.

Unfortunately, he apparently decided it wasn't 'presidential' enough so by the time of his Vice-Presidential inauguration in 1961 he had changed to a Rolex.

Wow, cool story. She is a great actress too! I had a crush on her when I saw Poltergeist as a little kid.

Wow! Now that is cool. As an LBJ fan and a vintage watch fan, that's an absolutely fantastic piece. Congrats on the acquisition!

Chris, she is still a very down to earth person who never let fame & fortune get to her head. They usually come down to visit once a year.

Very cool Stan, that's great to hear. Thanks for sharing! I still need to make it to Texas. It's on my bucket list of places to visit (besides DFW airport). Rene,

Too bad that group did not pony up for 14k instead of gold filled.

Outstanding Rene, superlatives are not enough.  Documentation even uber Huber would accept.

A very nice acquisition.  I recently went to AR in Baton Rouge and found through the attribution on my item, a Chinese watercolor, that it was a scarce female Chinese artist with a Japanese surrender hook that made my 20 into 1,000.

I didn't get on film for the item, but I made sure I walked by in the background while they were filming.  Sucked in the gut too.

I also happened to be near when they were filming the closing shot with Mark W. giving the exit and walking over to someone in line and chatting ...

They did it 5 times.  He accosted a different poor soul each time.

Everyone gets to hate some aspect of their job in time ...

I have Mark's autograph if anyone is interested .........

Some of the fans I have worked on are now in Jerry Jeff Walker's house.

Also, that is pretty awesome that Frank Zappa was a fan collector. I can't imagine him collecting anything that would come across as normal. I bet Kim Frank and him would get along just fine.
