$489 on eBay. Does that seem high? It is pretty nice, but still...

I certainly believe that to be a crazy number but the shined up polished Whiz fans have been selling for ridiculous numbers. Some have sold for double that. The market obviously dictates value, I just can't figure out "who" the market for that is. It doesn't seem to be members.

I subscribe to the Worthpoint Data Base.   It shows auction histories for several years on a wide variety of items.  The highest results I found for this fan was $1000.00   The search from highest to lowest found 26 that sold for more than $489.00.   They all appeared to have total "polished" restoration, similar to this one.   NO.........I'm not the owner.  :D

Its worth what someone will pay for it. I bought a sorry for sorts 73646-AK on CL for $5 (Bent cage/blades, broken base). Fixed it up, repainted/fixed base, rewired, made it pretty, and sold it to a clothing store in Brooklyn for $295 as a display. Most, if not all of AFCA, probably wouldn't of paid $150 when it was finished simply because we've been around fans for a long enough time to know that they come up for cheaper. But for a lot of people, they just want something that fits the description and looks aesthetically pleasing, not well made or rare. And a big reason for the higher prices is because it is "safe(r) to use", since the majority of the population don't have the knowledge to rewire one themselves.

These whiz fans seem to just keep going up and up in price, this seems to be an outlier though, pretty pricey

Same guy sold another one last week for $810. I was wondering if they are real bidders. I think they look good but don't know anything other than that.
