Find a Signal 9" aluminum "Cool Spot" oscillating or stationary with a REAL low serial and it more than likely dates ............1923, or the year Signal INTRODUCED their first fan motor to the market.

It appears if you own a Signal all aluminum  "Cool Spot", either oscillator or stationary model, you have a Signal Electric Co. first introduction fan motor since their incorporation in 1919.  It is in factual documentation that when Henry Tideman left to go to Cairo with the Menominee fan motor name he instructed Signal management they could NOT manufacture fan motors of his Menominee design.

Good question:  I wonder who designed the all aluminum Signal Cool Spot for the 1923 fan motor season?

Good information Russ. The info that I put together a while back doesn't go back this far.

It appears Signal's first fan motor was the 9" all aluminum Cool Spot introduced in 23.  The following season of 24 Signal it appears introduced their 8" Signal Jr.

Electrical news 1924 Signal Junior Fan Xesbitt Electric Mfg. Co., 60 Duchess St., Toronto, are Canadian distributors for the Signal Junior. 8-inch electric fan. This fan has many interesting features, including self aligning bronze bearing; eight foot cord
