I picked up a little all brass Westy 98926A.  I got my magnet out and it doesn’t stick to the base, motor housing, or the front and rear cage rings. It DOES stick to the S-wires only. They look 100% correct to my untrained eye. All the ones I’ve seen were brass. If this were a GE I wouldn’t doubt it at all. I have a few mixed metal GE cages. Did Westinghouse ever mix their cages? What say the experts?  Side note, I need one brush cap. Thanks

Square back ring? Totally round, no base clearance reverse curve? I assume by front ring you mean the center ring that holds the strip badge?

I have seen some all brasses with a steel cage but it was always a replacement from a later whirlwind (which actually looks cool). I've never seen a mixed cage.

Round ring, no curve and yes the small badge ring in front. I’ll get a picture at lunch.

Round back ring would be incorrect, should be square, the Whirlwind cages had round. Be interesting to see what you got, personally, it'll probably turn out to be pretty cool.

My mistake, it has the square back ring. I picked up a bb bc 8” GE Monday, I had them confused. Here’s the pictures and you can see the broke off brush cap.

Ok, it looks like a repair. From the looks of the back ring, it looks like it fell apart at one point. I think if you went to your closet and got an old hanger, you might be surprised to find the guage matches the S wires.

So Michael, you’re trying to tell me I don’t have the rarest one of a kind fan you’ve ever seen? No surprise here. It looks like a job for one of the talented members to tackle. It will go on the distant  future project shelf for now. I’ve been hemorrhaging fan money lately. Too many fans, too little dollars. 🙄

The sad thing is my wife is an enabler. I told her I was going to sell the 8” GE and she said no. She put it in the bathroom to keep the mirror from fogging.

Steve - You need the brush cap and the part that the brush cap screw into, unless you already have it.

I didn’t look that close.  I held the brush in with my finger and it ran. Jim, no reason to suck up, Donna already likes you. 😬
