I recently purchased this 12646. It runs good but Two of the blades were cut off from the hub so unfortunately I need an entirely new set of blades for it. I also need the arm that links the oscillator to the wheel. If you have any of these parts you'd be willing to sell or trade please PM me. I also would like to find a set of grommets for the feet.

Thanks

I also found this screw loose in the box with the fan but can't seem to figure out where it goes if it's part of the fan. It's pretty small and has a five sided head.

I have a 16666 (Lever Oscillator) that Darryl Hudson made a new linkage (bronze) for. Check with him. He also has the grommets (also available on eBay & other sources as kits with assorted sizes)

George & you should get your fans together!! Evidently that was a common mod back in the day.

The hub is going to be fairly difficult to find, but I have seen entire blade assemblies pop up on eBay from time to time. The cast iron hub assemblies like yours I have seen normally go for around $100. I believe almost any cast hub with 3 rivet wings will work, as long as it isn't one of the really early assemblies, and it should have a notch for the oscillator shaft. Good luck on the search, it will be a sweet fan when finished! :D

Just a question.  I am a new, wet behind the ears member.  In looking at this fan it would appear to be a restoration project.  If that were undertaken, would it destroy the value of the fan?   Thanks... Larry

Careful, you could ignite a huge discussion on this subject. It's happened before...
Here's the deal with this one. The so-called patina has deteriorated to the point of unbearable neglect on this fan. Perhaps a partial rescue and preservation could save it....perhaps not.
In any case it could be a long time before Roark finds a hub for this gem. This is definitely a case where some resourceful individual could come to the rescue of a number of collectors.
As far as value is concerned...it depends. At some point it becomes historically responsible to preserve a fan in it's original state with 100 year old dirt and everything. If not, someone is likely to poop little green apples in shock:shock:
But, some restored fans fetch much more than original fans as long as the restorer is knowledgable and very skilled. There's at least a dozen guys that post here with those credentials.
I predict at some point, the restorer's name attached to a piece is going to be at least as important as the make and model of the fan.
But, I could be wrong....
Cheers,
Bill
PS I really want one of these lever oscillators some day....real bad...
B.

Thanks Bill. My folks retired when I was a freshman in high school. They went into the Antique business. Ste. Genevieve Antiques. Before pickers were called pickers they were known as buyers. Among other things they were exclusive buyers for the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. Mom used to say most people do not know the difference between patina and dirt. What prompted my question was the rust. Deterioration requires restoration is the golden rule I was taught.

PS I used to live in Honolulu. Spent way too much time in 412 Lewers. In those days it was a Submarine bar. lol

Thank you for the info I'll have to ask him. Looks like a really pretty fan you have there too.

Thanks! Maybe I will get lucky and stumble across one on ebay. It's to bad the hub was  cut or I could just have new wings made.

It seems to run good as is for now, but thank you for the offer.

That's definitely a hard questions to answer. I'm a die hard preservationist myself and would never even consider buying something restored I could get in original condition, so for me restoring something would ruin the value in my eyes. I only think fans should be restored if not restoring them would cause some harm to the fan itself. In the case of my fan here the rust is just starting to form, however I plan to get rid of it and repaint the base to match the motor, which still has most of it's original paint. I don't plan to polish the paint or brass but I do plan on cleaning it.

There is a CAD file for that wheel that Darryl Hudson may be able to use for fabrication
