I have a 27645 cage that needs repaired and is actually missing a piece. It's not in bad shape but I don't have a welder so does anyone have a cage they would let go?

Tristan

Okay, here is the break. Towards the bottom (sorry it's a bit out of focus) the peice that connect the back to front is missing altogether. :(  And a shelf I just built! Woo!

That would be a simple repair. You could try and braze it or call around and find a local jeweler that would silver solder it

JB weld :(    I can't get it correct. If I pull on the left side (bent up) it will break the weld. It's also missing a piece towards the bottom. On the bright side the paint buffed out wonderfully. I'm gonna need a cage. I can't deal with the missing piece and the bend.

i paid close to 60 for a 29645 cage, it is the only one I've seen for sale in a year, if you can find a junker junior cage you could rob the wires off it to fix yours. ask on this site there are capable hands to repair your cage.Lawrence

I'm thinking that the wires on a Junior cage are thicker than the 27645 which has very thin S-wires.  Do check before you buy a Junior cage.  Yes, confirmed, S-wires on a Jr. are the same size as the front ring on a 27645 but the latter has thinner S-wires than the Jr.

A local welding shop will prob charge you 15-20 bucks for this repair. Much cheaper and easier than finding a new cage. If you were in my area I'd do it for free👍

Grab an old fashioned metal coat hanger, the thinner one that measures .1" or 3/32".   It's so close to the S-wires of your cage that you can't notice the difference.  Cut and bend as needed then epoxy to the cage and paint black.  Fixed cage and, if done right, won't be noticeable.   I had several cages like yours and at least two to three were missing wires or had broken welds.
