That is a rare bird. It appears 12-15.  Osius had a rheostat patented for use in the next model on the market it appears in 16.

Jim, does your motor tag state F or P 2641 on bottom right?

A sure way to tell your HB fan motor has the correct tag is the "F" suffix.  You will find the "F" suffix only on the fan motor tags.

Jim Roadt and I are not connected in any way other than members of this website. That is 2nd to the lowest serial I am aware of on Hamilton Beach's earliest desk & bracket desk fan.

The image below is the motor tag of the next model with base rheostat I once owned.  Notice the ....."F" suffix.

Jim, I have never owned one of these.  I am trying to understand what you are referring to about "all 3 speeds" and your referral to a "switch"?  The fan has no base switch.  WHAT....is the "switch that is a little touchy"?   I was under the impression fan speed was adjusted by simply moving brush position.

If you check out the image the chains hanging from the brush caps are for adjusting the brush carriage and brush position on the commutator for fan motor speed.

You adjust speeds on that fan by rotating the brushes.
