I need some resistance wire from a GE BMY that has been removed and is no longer any good. I want to have it analyzed to find out exactly what it is because I do not believe it is Nichrome. So if you have some that you have recently removed I would really like to have it. I will pay shipping. Thanks

Nichrome was a trademarked name for a brand of Resistance wire. The place I used to buy it was Pelikan Wire. I’m not sure if they are still around.

I’m not sure if they are still around.I don't think it is the same. I know at least one person on here tried to use it and it never worked out. It just gets to hot. Nicholas Denney has access to an x-ray analyzer. He will test the original wire and the mystery of what type of wire they used will be solved.

Most salvage yards have a scanning gun. They can scan the wire and tell you the alloy.

You’ll need to know diameter (gauge), resistance, insulated or not, cool or hot. It might be better to see if Dan Nguyen can help with the wire. He is the only person I know who will rewind a phase wound stator.

I want the original wire that has been removed from one of the old BMY, Kidney type motors. It doesn't matter the size, insulated or not, cool or hot. I just want the old resistance wire that someone here has removed from one of the stators so I can have it tested.
