I just pulled down a fan that I think is from 1972 (when house was built)The center shaft ~3/4" coarse thread appears to have come unscrewed.
I tried to screw it back in but it twists the wires.  Is it worth fixing?  If not does anyone want it for parts?  It runs fine.

It is worth fixing, you may have to take the switch nut off & push the switch into the nose so you can tighten it, then refill it with oil. It is better than any new fan out there.

You should watch this YouTube video by Derek’s Ceiling Fans
Maybe if the link doesn’t work search Hunter ceiling fans or such. The video is excellent and will help you decide if your skills will help you fix your problems
Good luck,  Malcolm MacGregor
