After a lot of effort, I pulled on it enough that it was separated from the frame in a few places BUT 80% was still in place.  I then had an idea to use used a 2 arm gear puller.   That bulged the the center out and the outside edges pulled away from the rim.  Worked great!   Use a small piece of wood to protect the end of the motor from the center shaft of the gear puller.

Here is a picture of the Gear Puller setup (the small block of wood between the end of the motor and the Gear Puller shaft is missing in the picture).

When I had to replace the back screen, I used the setup pictured below.  the 1x2 allowd the Gear Puller to "pull" against the screen.  Again, as it pulled out the center, and the screen's outside rim diameter got smaller.  I then inserted the edges into the Fan housing and then released the pressure on the Gear Puller to allow the outside rim to return to its normal size.
At that point, removed the wood and mounted the switch and motor from the front.

That's the same idea I had, I guess it works!
