Why join the AFCA? Best of all, let others know you are a member every time you post on the forums! Get rid of that pesky “guest” flag by your name! Gain access to the various “Members-Only” areas of the website. Browse the full images in the galleries, and view the entire “Info Section”. Receive complete information on regional fan meets, which are hosted by members around the country throughout the year. See demonstrations on restoring fans. Sell or trade your extra fans. Get assistance in fixing your fans. Make friends who share your interest in fans (some have been fascinated with fans since childhood). Fan Fair is open only to members. We have a great annual convention, which moves to different parts of the country every year. It has auctions, seminars on restoring fans and the history of fan manufacturers, a bourse (swap meet), how-to demonstrations, tours of local fan collections, museums or fan factories, and a lot of time spent with friends who don’t think you’re crazy just because you collect fans. “The Fan Collector” magazine is sent only to members. It has terrific color photos and articles about fans, manufacturers, and collectors who will turn into friends. (Well worth the membership dues alone!) Also note that by joining the AFCA you will have full access to the forum. You will be able to interact by replying to other threads plus gain access to the members only forum. In 2021 dues are $50 per year if you live in North America. If you’re under 18 and live in North America, you can join for only $25 per year. Memberships for those outside North America are $75 per year. By the way, a membership makes a wonderful gift. Start dropping hints! Receive a membership directory that lists contact info for all of the members and also their “other interests.” You may find someone who shares another hobby with you. Receive a New Member Packet that, among many other items, includes an archives order form. You can order reprints of old technical articles, line drawings, and ads pertaining to fans in your collection. Back issues of “The Fan Collector” from previous years are also available for purchase. Receive info compiled from membership surveys about various fans (serial numbers, dates of production, rarity, etc.) We run on a calendar year (January-December). You can join anytime and receive all of the year’s magazines. Everyone is up for renewal each January. Ok, Let’s do it! Just go to http://www.fancollectors.org/howtojoin.htm for more information.
