3m friction tape would have been a better choice to wrap the coils in than a vinyl tape. You should be ok because I wouldn’t expect the DC field to get warm, but vinyl tape usually isn’t great to use on a motor. And yes, the incoming rectifier leads don’t matter, because it’s AC. As Bill said, the hot should go to the switch. If the fan runs backwards, then switch the + and - leads at the rectifier.
