Can any of the ceiling fan folks or those who have worked on similar controls provide some insight into what needs
to be done?

Hi all-I recently purchased a pristine Hunter Type E that seems to be in almost perfect condition. The only thing that seems to have been altered is the speed control windings, and unfortunately, not correctly. One of the head wires was disconnected.I have no idea why the previous owner did this. Can any of the ceiling fan folks or those who have worked on similar controls provide some insight into what needs to be done?
