I trying to gather information on the Mimms Fan Company.  My father, A. W. Mimms worked there for Edwin Mimms.  The company went out of business in the 50's/early 60's.  We had several fans in our home while I was growing up.... I'd like to purchase one as well as learn more about the company.  Thank you.

Mark Mimms

Mark, there is a thread that ran on the forum a while back about these fans. Here is one I restored for a collector a few years back.

Kim,

Do you remember who the collector was or how he/she could be contacted? The fans I remember were all stainless steel on stands about 4' high.  Mimms logo in the middle.  Thanks.

Mark

Mark, I believe the fan is in the AFCA museum in Zionsville, Indiana. If you're in Louisville, it's about 130 miles north, right up I-65. If you can find that other thread, it featured fans like what you are describing.

Mark, your request for information was not ignored. I have scanned for patents and Google book information for anything on the E.N. Mimms Company and found so far only a reference to the company name in a Google book snippet. The snippet offered no view. Some of these fan manufacturers are difficult if not impossible to nail down. Maybe someone here can help you but I have failed to do so. The best to you in your search of knowledge. :dude:

Thank you.  If you hear of any for sale or information on the company itself I would greatly appreciate you contacting me.  Thanks again.

Mark

Can't do that, Kim. "afca.mywowbb.com" doesn't exist any more.

Well, if you wait two and a half years to reply, what would you expect?

That's the problem with "The Cloud".

Stuff falls out of it all the time.

Stephen,

Was that a Craigslist fan? I saw that one or one just like it. It's pretty awesome. I would have tried to buy it had I been closer

Yes.  It wasn't too far away, so I picked it up.  I can see why you didn't want to make the trip.  Wouldn't that have been about a 4 1/2 hour drive each way for you?

At least that far. I sometimes check out Craigslist listings in other areas when I'm "asked" to watch tv with my wife and she gets to pick the channel
