I just examined the base again, there are no signs of anything ever being attached.

You've got to love Ohio Electrics ad, it speaks loudly to being a distributor and not manufacturer, "large commissions and increased sales"!  A chicken in every pot and 2 cars in the garage!

Here are some images of both Manhattan No 1 and Ohio Electric Co fan (apparently, also made by Manhattan??)Both have the full round base. Manhattan tag cast; Ohio tag Stamped.

Thanks Chuck, mine certainly has a different blade, wonder if it was original to the fan with the different base or was a replacement?  Russ researched my blade and determined it was most likely older than the Manhattan #1 with the round base, interesting!  Anyone have a similar blade??

My thoughts about the base differences are that one may be older than the other, perhaps they found a larger fan could be used but the base had to be "sliced off" some to fit the larger blade.   Both do look to be original styles.

Steve I wondered if that wasn't the case also, or at least hoped it is older than the others.

Since we are on the topic of Manhattan fans. Can anyone tell me if the No. 3 came with a cage or was the cage optional. I have one and it appears to never have had one. Its an early one too with flat copper brushes. It has the screws and the plate where a cage would have attached to. Also what voltage does it run on? I have mine running on 6vdc.

Other than Jandus's (Sp?) the only other Cleveland made fan I have is newer,  and I can't find it, and am no longer able to post pictures.
