Looking for a working BMY stator or someone to rewind my GE BMY stator. If you are interested please email me at dlgrt@hotmail.com. I really want to complete this restoration on this wonderful fan. Thank you. Last edited on Sat Jan 2nd, 2016 01:37 am by Daniel Gonzales |

Hello Daniel. I have a BMY stator but it may not be the correct one for your fan. I think there are three or four different variations of these motors. Mine has the same resistance across all three pairs. Unless I'm mistaken, you'll need a stator to match your speed choke. There are plenty of experts here, maybe someone can advise on how to narrow your search.

Thanks for your answer Dale. I did not know that there were various stators for the BMY. There are a lot of things that I am still learning....electronics is my weak point. I do know that my fan is not an early model because it does not have a centrifical start. You mentioned speed control... it seems like previous owner replaced laminates and coil with a capacitor of some sort and fan ran on one speed. I will take a picture and send tomorrow. So maybe one of the electronic members can tell me if your stator will work with my speed control switch... unless you have a speed switch also. Again thanks for your input I appreciate any help I can get. I will stay in contact, I will give it a little more time to see if others respond, it is still the holidays.

This is what I have for speed control. I will be satisfied with the one speed.. it was working. But if there is a way of getting the three speeds working the would be nice. Attached Image (viewed 648 times): Last edited on Sun Jan 3rd, 2016 06:20 pm by Daniel Gonzales |

Daniel, I believe you need to find a replacement speed coil. The capacitors are used as a replacement for a nichrome ring which encircled the wire coil. Here's a photo of an R&M choke with the same style ring. You still need the wire coil in conjunction with the capacitor to get your speed control. Check the resistance or continuity on your stator pairs and see if you get a reading. You may be okay there and just need to find a working choke. Attached Image (viewed 469 times):

Unable to get a reading on stator,no wires sticking out. It seems like I am in the market for a BMY stator with matching choke coil. Maybe there is someone out there who has what I need unless there are other options? Do you know if the router was different sizes? I guess it will take me a bit longer than I expected getting this fan going again. If anyone else has any input I am all ears...thanks Dale

Rick, I was able to contact Sidney today and we had a great conversation. He will be rewiring my BMY stator and also make a 3 speed control to go with the new stator. I am a very happy camper! Thank you for your help with the info that you provided, I really appreciate it. Special thanks to Dale also.
