I am looking for a ceiling fan for an old house that I bought. I currently live in the western suburbs of Chicago but will be retiring in Southwestern Michigan in the next few months. I would prefer to buy a fan that I can pick up rather than have it shipped; I can drive to any location in the Chicagoland area, Southwestern Michigan or NW Indiana.

Thanks

Ed

I have received a couple of replies and you guys have convinced me that shipping may not be such a bad thing as it opens up a lot of possibilities. If you have anything interesting I would love to see if as long as you are ok shipping it. Someone sent me a picture of a side-winder but they were not comfortable shipping it - that sounded intriguing.

I am new to this so thanks for the thoughts and direction.

Ed

Hey Ed,

If you don't find what you want locally, I have an Emerson longnose about ready to go.  It would look like this without the lights.  This is one I did shown hanging in a California bungalow.

Shipping is not a problem for me and would run about $80.

Thanks Tom - nice looking fan - my wife liked the lights too. What are you asking for the fan?

Thanks

Ed

I may have some old sockets and fitter attachments, but I don't currently have any brass tubing.  Tubing is readily available from lighting supply shops.

The fan does not currently have a speed coil and many people prefer to control speed with a fan rated wall control.  I can put a coil in it and a 3 speed snap switch for extra but these old fans are fast, faster, and blow your hat off.

I'll PM you a price without lights and coil.

I can supply you a quality product at "below market rate".  If the longnose is not to your liking, I have Century, GEs. Hunters, Westinghouse etc.

I post most restorations on AFCA or check out my stuff here:
