I posted a fan I found on Craigslist, but it's 3 states away from me and thought someone closer would be interested. Would this be against the rules of the AFCA B/S/T forum?
                                  Thanks,
                                               Mark

I'm not sure what (if anything) the official rules state about that.

However - I am thankful for people posting such links as this. You never know who would be interested in it. We post many links of things too far away to buy on the car clubs I am in, and it's never a problem.

Sincerely,
David

Thanks David, I had someone like you in mind when I posted an ILG exhaust fan on Craigslist for $10 on the B/S/T forum, but it was taken down and I didn't know if it was against the B/S/T forum rules. If it wasn't almost 400 miles away I would have bought it for sure to add to my collection.
I really enjoyed your restorations of those beautiful ILG fans and the AFCA is fortunate to have someone like you as a member. I recently bought a small ILG model 103 at an estate sale and they just don't or ever will make such wonderful fan again.

                      Take care,
                                      Mark

I don't know why that was taken down. I saw it earlier.

The only thing I could think of would be if someone believed that may have been your own CL ad; and since you are participating as a guest, they deleted it.

That's the only reference to craigslist I see in the forum rules. Guests are not allowed to promote their own eBay or CL listings. Doesn't say anything about posting other listings that you find interesting.

That was my thinking too, so until I become a member I won't post advertisements again.
I went to a technical school for electronics, but have learned a lot from your YouTube videos. Please keep making such quality videos, that teach/inspire others like me.

Once again; I don't think posting links like that is forbidden unless it is YOUR ITEM you are promoting. For $10 it was basically a give-away anyway.

Glad you've learned from my videos!  That's why I post them.  :D

I'm currently at work for a few weeks, but expect videos to re-appear once I get back stateside.

Sincerely,
David

It was me. Our Buy-Sell Rules are pretty simple.

* Guests using our forum (meaning non-AFCA members) are forbidden from using our Buy, Sell, Trade forum for promoting their eBay or Craigslist links. Such posts will be deleted

Steve,

With all respect, Technically you are correct going by the guidelines set forth by the AFCA, but common sense tells you, like David said this fan was a basic giveaway. I really posted it for David or someone like him who could have gotten it basically free. I won't post again, but use a little common sense because we are all interested/have passion for fans, so why not share it with our friends here at AFCA.

                      Sincerely your friend,
                                                       Mark

I agree, at $10 it should have been a given it wasn't mine, because basically like you said it was a freebie.

I can watch your videos and learn more than days spent reading through manuals/ technical books if they exist. Your job sounds interesting, with a lot of hands on knowledge and seeing the world.

                      Safe travels,
                                         Mark

Mark, we'd love to have you as a member. I think this late in the year, you can get a membership for half price.
