Just picked up a 12PA-2 and believe the speed coil is bad.  I only get high, no change at all.  No change in amp draw other than a slight increase with each switch position change which levels right back off after a few seconds.  Ohmed out the coil and I only get like 1 ohm on 1 tab and 1.5 on the other....which doesn't seem right at all.
It also looks burnt on both ends.

Jeff, I found the fan I was thinking of, but it is a 16 inch. Cat. # 16SD2. 115 volt, 60 cycle, 1.3 amp. A working 3 speed switch, speed coil, and a few other good parts. Its yours for the postage if you want to try it, but I don't know whether it is interchangeable with the 12 inch or not.

I will check the specs on mine and let you know. I think this one is also 1.3 amp.

Mine's rated at 1.1 amp. Anyone know if the speed coils are the same or similar enough? I'd like to try it if so. I don't really care if the speeds are a little slower than they'd be...as long as its electrically safe and not so much slower that the fan doesn't move any air on low.
