While I'm literally waiting on the paint to dry on my Diehl, I'd thought I'd post a few pics of my next project. It's a Sears and Roebuck Homart window fan I rescued a few years back from a home that was being demolished. I do have the mounting brackets with this fan. I know very little about this fan but I'm sure I'll learn more once I get started on it. Without further delay ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That is an interesting fan, with those blades being held on with 2 screws. Looks to be a solid air mover.

YOU OIL THESE RIGHT THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE HUB THERE IS A HOLE THERE MIGHT BE A CAP AND I DONT THINK THE HUB REMOVES FROM THE MOTOR

Isn't that made by R&M, they are the only ones I remember making that funky rotor/blade hub assembly. You remove the center cap, take off the lock nut, & blade/rotor comes off, all one piece.

I'm sorry for not having better pictures at this time as I just simply snapped a few photos before putting into a better bag for storage until I get started on it. Not shown in the pictures(very well) is the toggle switch on the motor just to the right of the Homart badge. Here is another picture of the partial motor tag. Better pictures will soon be available. Any idea of the approx. date of this fan? ![]() ] Last edited on Thu Nov 16th, 2017 12:35 pm by Joshua Fitzgerald |

I see something about Garrett, Indiana which is where my grandmother's family is from. so I don't think its R & M, but not familiar with the electric motor manufacturers from around Garrett, Indiana.

Tom Zapf wrote: YOU OIL THESE RIGHT THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE HUB THERE IS A HOLE THERE MIGHT BE A CAP AND I DONT THINK THE HUB REMOVES FROM THE MOTORThe hub and rotor are a single integral part, and are removable by removing the cap in the center and then removing the snap ring on the exposed shaft. It went together, so it has to come apart. I just picked a non-reversible version of this one from the dump. Needs a new cord switch, but it runs well. They were great fans. I have one of these somewhere. The frames were made by the Alcoa company. Last edited on Fri Nov 17th, 2017 04:06 pm by Austin Ko |

And it appears this one uses the screws and lock washers for blade attachment as well...![]()

So then why would the motor tag on the OP's unit say something about Garrett, Indiana on it then? Did they source the motors for these fans from some company in Garrett, Indiana?

I remember seeing a couple of these fans in Windows when I was a kid. I thought that the blade was rather unique looking. Now I know what make they were.
