Hi there....I signed up to hopefully find out what year this R&M fan is that I recently acquired.  I haven't tested it due not having time to remove the cage which is pretty bent up where the blades would be hitting it . The cord is pretty bad so I'm also leery of trying just because of that as well. TIA.

My best guess would be late 30’s, or early 40’s. Unfortunately there’s not as much documentation on R&M fans as other fans.  I’m sure someone might give you a better answer.

By the way, a screw hook screwed into a stud or beam works great to work that cage into shape.  You just need to work it gently, or you’ll break the spot welds.  But you can get that cage nearly perfect if you take your time.

Best of luck on your restoration, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply. I realized I put this post in the wrong section. I was pretty sure it was pre-1950 but wasn't able to delete the post :(. Thanks for the advice on the cage as well and for the well wishes on the restoration. Oh...I see you are in Downingtown! I used to live in Glenmoore...born and raised there and am trying to move back there with a transfer from work. I really miss Chester Co and all of my family is there. Do you remember the Downingtown Farmer's Market?

My grandmother bought one of those new when she moved back into her parents newly remodeled victorian home in Texarkana , AR in 1938. Still have that one out in the barn.

We’ve only been in Downingtown for 13 years,  so I don’t remember the market. We do have a weekly farmers market, but it’s an outdoor event.

Oh ok. It used to be where the now demolished I believe Mickey Rooney hotel was on Rt 30. I think there is a shopping center across the street where it used to be with a Chilis there and maybe AC Moore? I moved from PA in 2001 and alot has changed there since
