Hi all! Long time lover of vintage fans, now with a garage / mancave, I have someplace to keep them. I found this fan at a Boston area estate sale. The woman said her father took it off a WWII era destroyer during a refit. I've never seen one like it. The ID plate says it's a 6FC-110 Cabin Fan made by Sutton Mfg. The bracket and frame appear to be heavy duty cast aluminum and it's powered by a Dayton 5k-050 3000 RPM motor. It works and it is STRONG! Just a really cool piece, but I can't find any reference to it online.
Has anyone else ever seen one? Especially if you were in the Navy.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Sorry for some of the pictures being upside down, I couldn't find any way to rotate them.

Intriguing.  Mounting block looks like a design borrowed from the Diehl Rail car wall mount fans from 25 years earlier. The color combination, the grille in front of the blades , and the yoke suspension of the motor look strikingly like forerunners in design , of the Vornado fan manufactured by company of the same name , founded after WW2 in Wichita KS by O.A. Sutton. We have several keen historians in the club & hopefully they can chime in as to whether a connection  between this fan and the Vornado legend in Wichita is history or just my imagination. Great piece of history regardless ,  and I've never seen one of those in 50 years of chasing fans.

February 6, 1963 - Sutton Manufacturing Co. is a company known for the manufacture of blowers, bilge pumps and ventilation and exhaust fans. No connection to Ottis A. Sutton or Vornado:
