I went to the local Shabby Chic fair and came across this fan for pretty cheap. It was marked as not working but the gal said it tried to spin, but would stop. The blade spun and everything looked ok. It was cheap enough to be worth the chance. It was reassembled incorrectly but the parts were there. I got it home and plugged it in, hooked up to a 100 watt bulb, just in case with no issue. I plugged it in and it started but soon stopped. I disengaged the occelator and it spun, although slowly. A good start! I went through and found the grease was hardened inside. I did a deep cleaning, greased and oiled where required, put in a new wire, and balanced the blades. It works great!!! Its in pretty good shape as found. I love the art deco cast base on this. It has a little buzz when occelating but you have to listen for it, and may work itself out with the new lube. All the gears looked good inside.

![]() ![]() Definately not a full restore but I like the honest wear and tear on my lanterns and fans. Last edited on Mon Nov 8th, 2021 03:49 am by Matt Szychulda |
