Hello Folks,

I am looking for a 16" GE AOU form AB1 brass blade. I am sure the shaft is 3/8" - right?

Does anyone have one?

I bought this fan on e-bay and even though I asked the seller several times to remove the blades, he didn't.
The poor thing is all bent backwards from the hub!!

Thanks

Fatima

WoW! How about some pictures of that one. Is the cage and struts all bent back as well? :wondering: Who was the seller so we know? Thanks!

The seller is "Vintage Times".

I asked him several times to remove the blade and cage and put it in a separate box from the motor. He only removed the cage and packed the fan with the blade and cage in one box!

It was even worse!!

Fatima, From the looks of your photo, I see no bends or creases in the blades. You may want to try to straighten the hub spiders (wings) and try to true it up before spending more money on it for a complete blade. As long as the hub wings haven't any cracks I don't see it to be to hard to do, just take your time.

Fatima,

I turned the photo for you, so these knowledgable folks here might get a better look at it.

Good luck with your fan.

Looks like that spider can be straightened and the blades re-clocked and balanced.

I know the hub can be straighten, but I can't do it myself. Sometimes the seller offers to pay for another blade or to have it fixed. In that case I would send him back the damaged one. That's why I was looking for a perfect one.

I told him so many times the consequences of shipping a fan with the blades on ( via e-mail and on the phone). He agreed to ship the fan in 2 separate boxes and did not do it. On top of that, he wants to charge me $90 for shipping, because he said he had to ship the fan in 3 separate boxes, but I only received one. Is this crazy or what?

If the blades are not "creased", it will be awesome upon straightening and near perfect, just nail him on the damage to knock down the stupid shipping costs.

Wow. I can't stand when that happens! I had this happen to my poor little R&M, although I did the best I can, there is only so much I can do with lack of proper tools. I hope you are able to fix the fan.

Bummer Fatima...I tried to nail his ebay handle to give him some tips on packing...and ebay keeps sayin his handle ain't there? :wondering: Honestly...I'm not that good at the ebay stuff, Susan handles it. Maybe you can post the ebay auction you nailed this puppy from?

I don't think I can do that because the auction is over. But I am going to try.

Thanks

Oh...your welcome bud...by the looks of that blade your cage and struts must be a bent up mess as well. I sure would like to give this dude a piece of my mind. You must of been able to straighten them out good huh? Good for you! I suppose the auction happened years ago being his handle vanished like a fart in the wind. But like I said...I'm not much good at the ebay stuff. When you find this auction, post it so we know. Man...I gotta give you credit to send this guy 7 messages to pack your fan right. And even after that....he still messes up! Good Luck!

I bought the fan on x-mas day and I just received it. I can't fix the blades myself due to temporary physical restrictions. I have to buy a new one or have it fixed by someone else.

I am still looking for a blade if I can find it. I want to give the seller the option of replacing it, or paying for the repair.

I was very clear with the seller about the fan shipping.
I don't understand why he did not do it, after my numerous requests.

Thanks for all your support.

By the looks of it, the blade may very well be repairable, as for finding someone to do it, you may need to ship the blade out unless you can find someone local. I would do it for free as I have straightened a blade like this on my 16" G.E. but you may have better luck with someone who is closer and better than I am. Good luck with your blade though, that is a real pain when that happens.

I did find him under "vintagetimes" but from what I can see he hasn't sold anything since Oct. and he has no completed auctions for a Fan and has not sold any fans. Very puzzling.

Fatima are you sure you have the right seller's name?

How about just going back on completed listings under elecric fans at Christmas time? He states he bought it on Christmas day. Maybe Fatima's fan purchase will be there, and we can clear this mess up.

Russ, Your only able to go back 15 days and his seller feedback clearly ends at October. There may be a mix up here or he only sold one item, the fan, during that time and that's why no feedback past Oct.

Google of course. Started with a simple search for vintagetimes, then expanded it to vintagetimes ebay electric fan and there it was.

Aren't you all so clever!!

Thanks Guys!!

I wrote the seller about the damage blades 3 days ago and received no answer yet. I will write him again in a couple of days and if he doesn't respond that I will contact e-bay. They usually take care of things very diplomatically.

If not my American Express card will handle the dispute. That's why I love AMEX!!!

THANKS FOR THE OFFER ROB!!!

CERTAIN THINGS HAVE TO BE DONE BY A MAN. UNBENDING A BLADE AT THE HUB IS PROBABLY ONE OF THEM.

I WILL TRY TO DO IT BY MYSELF WHEN I GET BETTER. I WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUT.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

If you add the word December to the last of the string, it comes up the second item on my Google search page.

Fatima,
have you called the seller? Phone number is listed on the auction. Seller also says "If any further questions over item please do contact us! " I think you might get better and faster service if you phone.

Hi Steve!!!

I have not called the seller yet, due to the fact that e-mails are written proof of communication between buyer and seller in case there's a dispute.
It's always good to e-mail the seller first, requesting in writing that the matter be resolved. Then later on, I can prove to e-bay all my requests and concerns involving the transaction.

I will e-mail him one more time, then if I get no response I will finally call.

Thanks for your advice and the phone number Steve! I really appreciate it.

All the best,

Fatima

Hey Joe,

Do you still have a 16" GE brass blade for sale please? I bought one, but it was the wrong one.

I need one for a GE AOU form AB1 Bell Oscillator.

Thank you so much,

Fatima
