You must post a price to sell on this forum.

Does the fan start up immediately when you turn it on or do you have to spin the blade with your fingers to make it start running?

Does the blade wobble alot when it spins?

Put up a photo showing the bottom of the base.

you can just hook up a cord to the terminals in the back, it will tell us a lot more.

You can attach a powercord to the two terminals on the back of the fan to see if it works. If you don't know what you're doing, find an electrician.

Here are the rules. Maybe you should read the rules which are posted at the top of every forum before you start random posting  on the forums. We have had problems in the past with make offer post. It is for the protection of the buyers and the sellers.

Jake, you might want to rethink your confrontational behavior here. Can't take a small joke about a $1 offer? Obviously he was kidding you.

Do you barge into a guest's house and start throwing your weight and desires around or do you act as a polite guest and be thankful for what you are offered. It's you who should be humble and, maybe, apologize for being so arrogant. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way.

I Get all these responces that i consider rude, realize im new to this and all I want to do is sell this to someone who will enjoy it. a local antique dealer said he would give me 150 i just want to sell to a collector who will enjoy itFirst off, I must say, that local antique dealer is ripping you off big time while he can make a fortune on that thing. I am sure many collectors would be happy to give you twice that.

Second, the rules of the buy/sell/trade section are as stated:

Your post must contain a set price. No make offer posts are allowed.

Of course, more can be found in the rules section. The worst thing you can do is sell to an antique dealer, they will try to get it as cheap as possible from you so they can resell it. If I could afford it, I would give you $300 on the spot.

This is of course, if it runs. It likely has two speeds.

All you need to do to see if it works is wire it up to the two brass terminals on the back. Take an old cord and put one wire to one terminal, and the other to the other terminal. Positive and negative, visa versa. Since this fan is AC current, it will not matter which wire goes where, just as long as one is on one terminal and secure, and the same for the other. Plug it into the wall, turn the knob if it isn't already on high or low speed and away it should go.

Note: If the fan is on low speed, the motor will not turn, you will need to give the blade a push to get it going. You also won't hear any motor hum if the fan is on low because the motors are virtually silent. And last, do not leave the motor on when stalled for more than 5 seconds. You can damage it.

Nobody is trying to be rude. But I believe you are rushing things a little and that's why everyone is being a little short with you. Instead of asking a question on your original post on how to go about selling it, you immediately made 3 posts in the non-seller's forum and one here. If you're new, ask questions. You'll be sure to get an answer

I also think that some are a little offended that after helping you, instead of enjoying your new treasure at least for a little while, you immediately want to sell it which seems to paint you more as someone wanting to make a quick buck than as a true fan collector. Now I'm not saying you don't have a right to sell it because you do. I'm just saying that, myself, I'm a little offended at the behavior. If it were me, I would have kept that pancake and been thrilled that I paid $20 for it.

Jake: If you do decide to run the fan, please check the voltage and cycles on the motor tag. Thanks

Mistakes are made, move on already. Welcome jake, hope you make some money for your family.

I made mistakes as well, but I am not offended by the kind help.

The fan should be tested if you really want an honest price. Knowing the condition could drastically increase or decrease its value. Either way, just parts alone...should be more than the price offered by the antique dealer.
