I am looking for a fan that is exactly 1924 my moms year she was born. I want to repaint polish and have my friend an artist put her name on it. Is there a fan out there that was definitely made in 1924, ty in advance for any input. S

I think the GE AUU Form AD1 was made in 1924. Brass blade, steel cage, easy to work on.

It's going to be hard to nail a fan down to a single year but GE made it easy on most of their models, especially the larger ones.  How about an Emerson Jr. which came out in 1922 and, by 1923 I believe, had a date code on the cage badge.  Here's one with a "3" date code which would make it a 1923 model.  Find a Jr. with a "4" and that's your 1924 fan.  Juniors are simple but very high quality fans.

Hi Steve,

Whan an awesome gift for your Mom.

My GE Type AUU Form AD was made in 1924.  If you're looking at a GE fan, look for Form AD inscribed on the identification plate.    I'm attaching a picture of my fan for reference.

The AD designates it as a fan made in 1924 as referenced in the following chart.

If you're looking at an Emerson Northwind, you can use this chart from the Info Section.

For more money you could also buy a 71666 which are excellent fans and really nice and quiet. For 1924 you could get a 6 bladed brass fan which is what the earlier models were, the later ones had steel blades.

The 71666 would be a good model for Steven but how to determine if it was made in 1923 or 24 or 25 or 26 or whenever the built to last badge appeared.  I think the very low "screen door" carrying handles are the early ones but for how long Emerson used them I don't know.  Have a nice one here that I was going to maybe sell from Bill's collection after I get the original head wire, severed at the base, reattached or replaced.  This one is definitely an early 71666 and could be from 1924 but how would we tell if from that exact year.  Serial no. is N04430

Steven, I love these  G.E. AD-1, from 1924. Easy to work on, great fans in my opinion, fairly easy to find, I have a few , all bought for less than 50.00.

That, as you probably already know, is going to be near impossible other than with a GE (easy) and maybe an Emerson Jr. IF you can find one with a "4" date code on the cage badge.  I've seen a "3" for 1923 so hopefully there are some 4s out there.

If you can find one of the letters on this chart you are good.  There are several from 1924.
