Hello All,
Looking for one to restore or just a nice one in original condition.  Again, Cat 78777 (6 winger) R12 Black from 1915 with 6 pole motor.  PM with details if you can help.

Thanks much,
Lance

Are there 2 and 3 star variants of 78777?

Mine is 2 star.

Thanks Henry.  Not an easy fan to locate but certainly not rare.

Chris - I've seen examples on google for the 2 and 3 star.  I know one person that has a two star 78777.  Probably more common on the earlier BMY and SMY.

Yes, there are both.  2 and 3 stars for Form R, 1915 then just two stars through 1919.   Form S, 1916, is still black I think but, after that, they are olive green with, mostly but not all, steel blades and cages.

I've got a 78777, Form S3, two star in black, BB/SC, which agrees with what Steve posted above.  Edit: Sorry, I got lost as to what forum I'm in, I was posting for info only, this fan isn't for sale right now.

I think he really wants something like this. It is just that this one is 16" instead of 12". This is a form R2 3 star.

Lance says he wants a 78777 12" which is a 6 wing fan.   I have one in my collection but not ready to let it go just yet.

Don.....really nice fan.  Steve is right, I'm looking for the six wing version with BB/BC if possible.  Probably only the 3 star 1915 version will have brass cage and wing.  Steve - correctly me if that version was not made.

Thanks,
Lance

My 78777 is a 1916 Form S (I had said it was a 1915 Form R but it's not) and a two star with brass blades. Earlier 1915 Form R ones have brass struts and a pot metal oscillator disc, later ones are two star and cast iron oscillator disc and with steel struts.  Mine has steel struts, cast iron oscillator disc, and two stars- Form S.  Black paint and, other than the Form letter, it's identical to the late 1915 Form R fans.

1915 and 16 are brass cages, the last year for GE brass on all models.

That one has the early brass struts and three stars but, also, a pot metal oscillator disc vs the later cast iron part.  But GE's pot metal can be pretty decent on some models.

Steve,    What's the visual giveaway that tells you it's pot metal? I checked my 19-teens GEs, and with the exception of the kidney which has a flat narrow disc, all are magnetic, Forms R S & V... the proportions all seem the same...?

Another early 3-star showing details.

16" 3-star with cast iron oscillator disc which is narrower around the cast iron rim and has a slightly different profile.  You may find that 3-stars with iron discs have steel struts instead of brass.   I'm not sure about 16" models.   Do you see the pot metal vs the cast iron difference Steve?  Pot metal discs are fairly commonly seen I think and I have had several.

Here’s another example 78777 form R. They make great bedroom fans!
In its “wild” state. I’ll be cleaning it up first but may end up being a restoration candidate.

Also NFS

And a super nice example Chris!
I prefer the originals but not shy to attempt a restoration if justified.  What would it take to pry away from you?
