Dropped them off last week...rain and cold slowed down the lost wax casting. Should be ready by end of next month.

There is a slight delay due to business closure...one of the employees got tested positive. I will be heading down this weekend to talk to the person who is doing the casting.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Lou,
Rome wasn't built in a day. Not to mention you took on this task during a pandemic. I comend your for even considering it. Good things come to those who wait.

I was supposed to pick them up last week...work just open back up for me (last minute notice)...I will pick them up soon. I apologize for the delay. This project is interesting...not much profit...but I do enjoy the challenge. I'm making a whole $5 after paying off for the material cost and having George ship them out...pretty much break even once shipping cost is factored in. I really don't mind as this has been a learning experience to making mold. Hope everyone enjoys them soon. I will be free to do some more tinkering after this month...off from work for the summer. Again, sorry for the delay. Rick and Charlie...I have your badges all clean up and ready to ship back to you.

I did pick up some interesting tricks to making the molds. When I started out looking for casters...majority was sand casting. The lost wax casting was not that expensive...but the cost of the molds were prohibitively expensive and I now understand why...lots of work involve to get them perfect. I watched a couple of videos and tried at first...lots of failure. I kept trying new materials and buying lots of different wax from Amazon...finally found some I liked that had a low melting temperature and hardness needed for the molds. The next step was to find someone who would be willing to do the casting. Most of the big companies...don't want to even deal with hobbyist so they refused to unless they did in-house mold and you had to order a lot of casting to make it worthwhile to offset the cost. I finally found a friend who was willing to do it. I did try to pour the metal once at his place...not something I would ever do again...dangerous and not used to the heavy work. But he did give me some ideas to improve on my mold.

Hi Louis!

Your efforts are amazing to me! I dunno if I could be that patient... we didn't see your duds but each failure gets you closer to success and I admire that! It is the old 2% being smart and 98% perspiration thing!

My biggest worry was the WE Victor badge due to the size...the shrinkage was perfect. It is late here...I will post some pictures I took earlier at the shop. I will inspect each badge before sending your way George.

Louis, if you happen to have an extra FWEW for a 16” I’ll take it.  I only bought the fan a month ago. Thanks for all your hard work regardless.  πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Steve, I made mine from a 12 inch fan I had laying around.  I'm not sure if 16 inch utilize a different size.  I made extras and you are welcome to them.  I just got back from a long day.  Kids graduating...seeing them off and drive to the shop was long.  I will post pictures tomorrow of some of the badges before removing them from casting.

Here are some pictures before I cut them from the stump.  The shrinkage for the WE Victor is nice!  I made a couple extras...the imperfect ones will be toss out.  I can't wait till tomorrow to post pictures...too much excitement.  Here are some of the pictures.

Steve, the FWEW is on the floor...did not have time to take pictures of them...the slotted ones in the first picture is the FWEW badge.

It was a fun project and learned a couple of things. I will be working on another project...making small toy motor tables soon along with lions feet/paw to mount my Edison motor. Something I had been wanting to do for awhile.

I believe the 8” ECK is smaller as the 16” are larger, they appear to be sized for the fan size

I'll check on the ECK fan later. I have the 12 and 16 inch stored away.

I also just realized I had an 8 inch Hunter badge I forgot to cast...that is the neatest small badge I have.

The 16 inch ECK badge is bigger than the 12 inch ECK badge.
