His next step was to ship it to me as is, but his post office couldn't find my address. Oh well.  I have stuff to trade if someone silent out there has a stump with a healthy stator.

You could get the guy to ship it to one of your neighbors and then porch pirate them.

Regarding the mechanical oscillator, and stationary cast iron R&M desk fans, I have only ran into one 1153 in the wild in the distant past around here. It was overpriced at auction, so I left it behind. I have no experience with interchanging a stator with these fans.

That is true - - our little town's USPS is a joke, reason why I use UPS now, or call me a liar & an idiot who can't get a stator out - I sent it out to another member & it was bad, I did not ask payment until it tested ok. So I have a parts fan myself. We have packages piled up in a sorting center near Richmond (Sandston). This pandemic imposes difficulties we all must accept.
