Richard...it does happen. When I first started collecting...I bought every fan I saw and the prices now looking back...was a tad too high. That is because I did not know better.

Yes...I did know it was sarcasm Richard. But I was foolish during my early hoarding with fans.

I'm pretty sure there were members here who had a great chuckle..."Look at that fan newbie."

That’s funny Jim but I’m told that Barnum never actually said that.

I'll add this one to the mix; a non-working switchless 29648 sold for $189 + $25 shipping. I'd take a complete working one shipped to my door for $150 any day over a parts stump for $215.

Did P.T. Barnum, by any chance, say his famous quote after meeting you?  :D :D

I bet that 5 on the Westinghouse fan was the result of fat fingers on the keyboard and they hit the 5 next to the dollar sign on the keyboard when they were typing in the price and never realized they did it. Most likely supposed to be $356.00 not $5356.00. Man tell me someone's not that crazy yet..

Yeah and if you look up the completed auction click on the back bidder 3***i to see what they have bid on and all their bid history is gone. Everyone else's bid history on that auction is still there. IDK But there's something definitely screwy about that auction.

My Brother-in-Law's last name IS Barnum, and that's no joke, I was being serious. He is actually related to him, although I can't remember how right off the bat.

Its Just like how I'm related to Warren G. Harding the 29th President of the United States, (he was a distant cousin) and I'm also related to the Infamous Jesse James, the Wild West bandit, and I'm also related to the Bike Builder Jesse James because of that (although its not a blood relation, its through adoption, because my dad was adopted when he was 2 years old, and the family that adopted him were the ones that are related to Jesse James.)

I believe you, and my joke wasn't aimed at the authenticity of your statement, and to make it clearer, I should have specified that I was referencing the famous quote in my joke, as opposed to your statement. I should have said, "Did P.T Barnum, by any chance, say his famous quote after meeting you?" No offense was intended by my joke, and I will edit it to reflect more clearly what I meant.
