I have the need for yet another oscillator knob for an emmy I'm working on. The one was jammed up. Took it off and attempted to work it loose. Unfortunately it just disintegrated in my hand ![]() Thanks y'all!

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me. OSCILLATOR KNOB?

I have some of the earlier ones (from 29646's) I could sell, but I don't have any of the later pot metal ones. I'll send you a pic and price tomorrow when I go back to my shop.

This would go on a mid 50's emmy. I just figured any one of those would work if I had to take something not original to the era.

I know little to nothing about the 50's fan, but I do suspect that the oscillator shaft coming out of the gear housing is 5/16" OD with a single flat. Is that correct?

I can't say for sure, but I think the later Emerson ratchet wheels are bigger (at least taller) than the earlier ones. Last edited on Thu Sep 2nd, 2021 02:40 am by Noah Britt |

Yessir. It hasn't changed. I've used the one off my 29646 as a temp before. I guess the one I am working on was pot metal that didn't hold up for whatever reason and just disintegrated. I've never had that happen with all the disassembly I've done of these fans. I caught your pm after I posted the last message. I'm just waiting on an answer from someone else first and I'll get right back at ya.

If I had to guess, they were probably made taller to make them look better with the bullet. The inner hole where the shaft goes in is set in deeper into the taller one with shallow walls to make up for it. Last edited on Thu Sep 2nd, 2021 05:21 am by Andrew Teague |
