The Air King you have there is an excellent fan. That blade design they used moves tons of air. I have two Air King box fans with that blade and they're both very powerful. The only downside to that fan is the plastic grilles but for a metal blade fan, it really doesn't effect the air flow too much.

The Edison is an ok fan. They aren't the best but they do a pretty good job for what they are. The motors are very hard to kill though. I have an Edison motor that still runs even after being submerged for who knows how long. Careful with the blades! They do break easily. I broke one from just knocking the fan over.

the air king is early 70s, the edison is 80's . the roller is definilty worth it, the edison also a decent fan, one of the last before the takeover of the skinny fans

Nick, the grille on the Air King actually does a decent job directing the air, even with out a venturi frame inside the "box". Take a soft brush and clean the rear vents of that motor and oil it and it will last. The Edison motor was the last of the real ones, oil it even without an oil hole, and keep it from getting wet and it should keep going. The paint color was just plain beige to accent the smoke blades and brown grille. Enjoy them both!... tom
