Hello, I have a Penguinaire Twinette fan that I'm guessing is from the 50's, I can't find any information about it online so I'm turning to the experts here for assistance. The frame is heavy gauge sheet metal and measures 27.5" wide, 15.5" high, 3"deep and has 10" diameter blades. The motors are labeled Penguinaire, Division of Motor Outlet Company Inc, New York, NY. It has a thermostatic controller, full variable speed motors and and each motor can be switched for intake, exhaust or off. Anything you can share (history, value,etc) would be greatly appreciated. That strongly resembles an evaporator fan for a small walk-in cooler.

Thanks for the reply. Would the walk in have manual controls for fan direction, speed and temp? I found the fan while cleaning out my inlaw's attic and thought it may be a window fan based its appearance, features and where it was found. Also the downward pointing leg on the center of the fan cages looks like it would bear on the window sill to prevent tipping in. Thanks again for your input! Anything I learn here will help get this figured out.

A walk-in would have a thermostat, but the reversible switch is not a standard walk-in feature, although it could be handy for a forced defrost. Speed would also not a standard walk-in feature,but it could function as a load control of sorts. My best guess is it is exactly what it appears to be, a window fan. I TOO THINK THIS IS A WINDOW FAN. A COOLER UNIT WOULDNT USUALLY HAVE THE CONTROLS ON THE FAN B UT ONTHE CHILLER UNIT ITSELF. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE OR HEARD OF THE NAME BUT THE BLADES LOOK LIKE STANDARD TORRINGTON BLADES FROM THE BACK...VERY INTERESTING FIND! PUT SOME MORE PICTURES ON OF THE OTHER SIDE !

Possibly it/is was both, window fan and refrigeration cooler. Size appears to be amenable to both jobs. With appropriate substitution of controls, it could do for both functions. Look at it as a way to increase sales, by simple modifications.

THE FACT THAT IT IS "FINISHED" WITH A RETAIL TYPE NAME LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS HOUSEHOLD PLUS IT HAS A TOGGLE SWITCHES THERMO, AND SPEED SWITCHES LOOKS HOUSEHOLD. ALSO BEING A "TWINETTE" LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN SINGLE FAN MODELS IN VARIOUS SIZES... SO TRY GOOGLING PENGUINAIRE!....
