It had the power cord going to the switch and then the motor unless im missing something, there is nothing in the base of this particular fan.
Since I need to take it apart anyway to replace the switch once I track one down I could post a pic of the guts if wanted
Well some fans (mainly table fans from the 1960s forward, and box fans) have the speeds wound into the fan's stator which GE was more known for doing that than Westinghouse was.
