Carl,

Would you please share that M/C part number?  I've never been able to find it with the correct length.  Thanks.

may take till tomorrow Tom I need to dig through paperwork which my wife does better she's not here. I've ordered probably 3-4 different Emerson shoulder screws from them. They are not exact copies, like the heads may be thicker or wider but I've gotten several common sizes for I believe all the emersons and some for the 50's Hunter Zephairs. I'll post the numbers asap

Brian - Did you get the shoulder screw you needed? I needed one for an 8" Emerson Jr and placed an order last night through Amazon for a 5 pack of the closest match I could find: Slotted 303 SS, Shoulder Diameter 3/16", Shoulder Length 1/8", Head Diameter 5/16", Thread Length 3/16", Thread Size 8-32. The only dimension out of spec for me was the head height... which is 5/32". Let me know if you need one... it's the least I could do as thanks for the FF videos of Paul and Tom!

Well, that's very kind - I'd be happy to pay for one or two and the shipping - I'll PM the address and please consider letting me pay for it. Thank you

You are probably going to have to grind down the thread length.  If it goes in too far, it will bind up the mechanism.  I don't have any exact dimensions right now, but be aware of it.

Carl, can you post the McMaster part numbers for the 3-4 Emerson Shoulder Screws. I'd sure like to order some.

John

I bought a shoulder bolt for the same fan from Mcmaster-Carr and found out that the thread length had to be ground down otherwise the thread would bottom out and bind but it worked after a little tweaking with the threads. McMaster # 99154A360

That one would have been perfect for my Jr, except I needed 1/8" shoulder length... I was not able to find that with a low profile head, so I had to settle for one with the thicker head height.

Brian - yours are on the way and your oscillator arm looks like it will work well with the shorter shoulder length.  It worked perfectly on my Jr, but Jr doesn't have the adjustable oscillator wheel. Thread length is the same on both, so it sounds like you will have to do a little grinding.

Dan, the screws just arrived and they work perfectly with the exception of the threaded portion being a tad too long. Would you send me the Amazon info where you purchased these? I'd like to get a small supply.
Thank you!!!

Brian - Glad you were able to make it work.  Here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P5VIA0/ref=biss_dp_t_asn

Notice the link, "See all 45 in this Product Family", near the top if you're looking for different sizes.

Anyone know of a similar source for LH shoulder screws (GE, Hunter)?
