I have a very nice- Freshy #20 with original pedestal mount that has a broken gooseneck mount. It is nearly perfect with the exception of this bracket. From what I have ascertained from the group these are pot metal and not repairable. If anyone out there would have one I would gladly pay or trade some other Freshy switch parts (Yes..1-2-3-4-5!) for the appropriate un cracked bracket. Many Thanks:clap: Greg Skochko Albany NY

I am out of town for a few days. I think I have a die cast mount on a pedestal pole. I would do the trade for this switch pictured. Will you wait up to a week or so for me to confirm my die cast mount will work for you?

Sure thing Russ, that sounds like a good trade to me. Meanwhile, I will measure the steel pedestal pole outside diameter to be sure it will work. I am really exited to have this fan running again. Thanks very much, Greg

Thats not the actual fan just for reference. The fan it came from was mangled under a pile of electric motors at the scrapyard (blade was a 2 blade propeller but broken in 5 pieces) This switch was really the only part not mashed in and the only thing I could salvage. The donor fan had a similar flared 2 piece bullet design (unlike the #20 with just a single cone shape) with 5 speeds and a separate pull chain for the on off.

Well, while we are on the subject, I need the same part. I found a 99% complete / 100% functional Model 20 today (including the pull tag with all cage clips). The neck mount has several unnerving cracks in it, though.

Has anyone ever machined a replacement?

Hi NM,I see those cracks also evident in the bits of my broken gooseneck...yikes. I can also tell you that the casting is very very porous. When it broke the cross section looked like  a Nestle Krackle Candy Bar inside.
I too was thinking of manufacturing a replacement out of steel on my lathe. Not perfect but at least would have a working fan and not the perfect but "headless" stand that I have now.
BTW:  Russ How's that "spare gooseneck" search going...your Freshy 12345 switch awaits its journey to you.

Could something like this not be retrofitted? Just one of the swivel ends, not the center piece. If so, it would be a lot stronger than the awful pot metal these are made from.

Drill and thread a hole in the side of it, and use a short wing screw to tighten it down. The motor would rest on top of the tube instead of to the side, but you get the idea. I am sure there are other style clamp that one could find that are closer to original.

Or this, since it comes off the side instead of attaching at the top. The piece on the right, not the left. Replace the regular screw with a wing screw.

Any word on how this worked?

EDIT**** - Found these - 3 Piece Clamps Scroll down a bit and you'll see them. I attached a picture as well.

I thought that maybe if you could get the 1 1/2" version to work if you used a sleeve around the fans tubing, or with the 1 1/4" version the thickness of the mounting point on the Freshy's motor would widen out the clamp enough to make it fit over the tubing. Definitely a neat looking clamp though if it could work.

The tongue is chrome plate pot metal cast over a steel bolt. The cap was chrome plate die cast.

I have one pedestal pole left with this cast mount I keep. The pedestal pole mount is larger in diameter that the desk top model mount. If you want it that bad impress me in a PM. As you can see you have been looking for one for some time. That defines....hard to get, and hard to get comes with a price. Your call.

If I were you I would use your imagination seeking advice if necessary to reproduce one in its likeness.

I was of course just kidding Russ in my post to the group. It was not my intent to poke, prod, or annoy. I realize these are indeed the weak link to these fans and Yes, I have found a rather imaginative and inexpensive solution to this situation with help from another generous group member. Thank You, Greg.

Some of the guys here can seem a bit "bristly" in responses but they mean no harm, just how they respond. I'm sure some here think I'm a bit too nice/indecisive in my responses. :)

Man....you dudes need some R&R. Dump the briefs and get boxer shorts, less binding in those tender areas. Keeps you smiling all day. Think about it.
