Found this fan in a box lot at an auction and identify it. Have not tried it out yet because the cord is suspect where it goes into base but it is a 2 speed oscillator and has a 12" fan blade. The name lable is all but gone so any info would be helpful before I dig into it. Thanks Art

Hi there. Late 40's to early 50's by the base and color. Very unusual to have the switch in the base like that. That style was Model 2020 12" 2 speed oscillator. Impossible to get exact year as Dominion Electric did not start print ads until early fifties. Most models were carried for many years. And they went back and forth with paint colors too. Are you going to service it? I can help if you wish. Good find, I collect these and hadn't seen that switch on this model!

Hello, dug a little deeper into fan today, first the cord, its disintrgrated and very fragile, did get the bad spot spliced to check and no sparks. Switch seems to work as the motor tried to turn blades but just couldn't when switched on. The whole fan feels gummed up, the blade does not spin freely like theres old grease gumming it up. Thats its for now couldn't get past how to take the blade and cap off and didn't know whether to dig in and fix this thing as far as i'm capable or put on ebay as is. Whats the value difference and just how rare is this switch in the stand and that should help date it. Will continue to search around and see what I can find out. Thanks

Hi again. These are not worth a lot of money, unfortunately. That being said, this one is different with the switch on the base. Sounds like it needs to be taken completely apart and cleaned out, then re-wired. I would buy it if you are interested in selling it. Just let me know, it would be great in the collection.

I would buy it if you want. No, they are not the same switch. Those vortalex switches can be purchased though. Look online, there are a couple sources, what is model?

Hello, I'm not sure if i'm allowed to give number or exchange info on this site but my phone is 7044089443 if it goes to voicemail just leave message. It would be better if someone with a little more knowledge tears into this one instead of a more common one I don't want to screw it up. would like pic when done though

It has a tag so it must be from the late 1940s. The tags went away and the decals on the base seem to have started around 1950-51.
