I'm in the market for a good running Emmy government fan.79646-APG. This is the 2 bearing model. Usually they have black wrinkle paint.  They're very common but I'm just having a difficult time finding one when I want one. I've passed up many in the past when I wasn't looking for one.

This is the story, we use a 16" one in our bedroom in the summer both for a breeze, and also for white noise. It's just too much air in the cooler months. I've tried several other of my 12" single bearing Emmys, and they just don't have the right drone sound. Anyhow, that's why I'm looking for one to restore.

This is what I'm looking for:

Must run well on all speeds

Good straight blade and cage ((cage mustn't be rusty -light oxidation of the cad plating is ok)

I'm looking for the earlier model with the bolt on handle, not the later one with the spot welded carrying handle and cheaper manufacture

Looking for one with no rust and good original paint ( paint can be missing from blades)

I don't care about cord or felt condition. But it must be complete.

Please PM me if you're have one that can be taken to Aiken. I don't mind prepaying it and just pick it up there.

Thanks!

Lane

Thanks for the eBay tip. I'll look at that one but there have been several listed lately and with shipping, the price is way beyond their value. They're actually the less desireable of the Emerson fans .

$100 is a bit high for them. Many of them have worn bearings as they're not the usual Emerson one bearing design. And they were used a lot and not maintained very well. All the 16's I have were in the $50-60 range.

We live in a "fan poor" area -I guess it's supply VS demand -
& it's not practical to ship them, so I figure a delivered price should reflect that.
All my pedestals came from meets or local sources (some I had delivered from friends around the country)

I would buy a truckload of running pedestals @ $50-60!

But your right - Emersons are superior. Even the 2 bearing models.
I am an emerson guy  -followed by R&M (stamped or cast iron)

I wish they made an APG Ped. But these are just desk fans. Yes they are more robust than some other 2 bearing fans but being govt issue, most were run hard and put away wet. I do like that many have cool tags from where they resided.
My 16" has a decal (sadly it's not in the best of shape) from a bomb ordinance unit that owned it.
