Hello fans. I am selling my attic fan made by Eagle Picher. It is in excellent condition and functions is beautifully. It is extremely large and powerful, running on the original ![]() ![]() ![]() belt driven motor. This Eagle-Picher fan is turbo driven and does not have blades. I appreciate any information on this fan, it's manufacture, and if there is interest in purchasing.i am asking $800 Thank you Joanne Last edited on Fri Apr 21st, 2017 05:46 pm by Joanne DiMartino |

Hi Joanne, one rule for posting on the buy-sell-trade forum is that a posted price is required. No make offers, etc.Thank you.

I helped my Dad install a nearly identical belt drive fan just like yours in our house in NY around 1950 and it worked great moving lots of air. Dad always said that some windows had to be open if the fan was turned on or the negative pressure could collapse the walls. Well, I hope not and don't think it would have but I always made sure some windows were open which should have been anyway if the fan was running.

I think you are correct. When I turn the fan on, my hair seems to lift! It is very powerful and there are two windows in the attic to allow the air to escape. Thanks for the infoJoanne![]() Attached Image (viewed 1593 times):

At our west facility, we have an air handler in an upstairs mechanical room. We had a brief power outage one day & the fire dampers closed. The air handler came back up to speed before the fire dampers had time to reopen & sucked a 5' hole in the sheetrock ceiling. The engineers knew this was a possibility & specified the joists to be on 12" centers. The contractor knew best & put them on 24" centers. The contractor had to repair the ceiling & add the extra specified joists.

Joanne DiMartino wrote: I must remove the fan next month. Please contact me if interested. Joanne, You have a scarce piece of ventilating history. That said, it doesn't translate into high value. I don't want to see it go to the scraper, but who will want such a large unit? If anyone offers much of anything, take it.

I also advised her of a realistic price. Hopefully it'll find a new home and not get scrapped.

Yes, I know Clayton Ave. I bought my 1930's White Plains home just 3 months ago and much of it is original or from the 50's. While I appreciate the vintage touches, I'm remodeling and most of the old must go. Just as I'm installing what's popular and available now, I guess in 1950, this attic fan was quite impressive and "top of the line". I will lower the price. I truly appreciate the help and advice from all here. I'm trying to recoup some money for my renovations and find a home for the unique vintage items.Joanne

joanne, robin cook had contacted me about 2 weeks ago since I was close by to where you live. . I just retired this week and have been very busy. I can tell you I discussed this with another afca member and it is very interesting but like anything else rare or not, value is predicated on having a buyer.it is a large item and you have to have a place to put it or use it. I too would hate to see it go to the junker and it would be neat to have (I already have an attic fan large) in my 1920 home... is it able to be removed in one piece? now being on the dreaded "fixed income" ten years earlier than I had intended, money is a concern. there is no way I could have approached the original asking price. I would offer a tiny fraction of that and would not want to hurt your feelings. also does the bath or kitchen have a period ventilator? you could reach me at 917 842 2040....tom zapf

Hello. I adjusted the price to $800. I too would hate for it to just get demolished. I am only trying to recoup some money to apply to my renovations which are costing more than anticipated. Thanks for your interest and keep in touch. Joanne

Hello, in the interest of saving this old fan, I feel that your revised price is not even close to the range that the small handful of interested collectors would consider. Given its location and that it must be removed, transported and stored , it's just not a shining star. Regardless of its rarity. If it was a rare desk fan, this thread and your success would be FAR different. I believe several knowledgeable collectors ( I think none, or few of which have any interest in buying it by the way ) have offered realistic opinions to you in private as to its value. I don't think any of the interested parties care to pay for your remodeling project but would pay a reasonable price for the fan in order to save it. Hopefully you can arrive at a price that attracts the few buyers before a piece of history is demolished. Best luck selling it and hopefully you will find the right price and buyer. .

Hello fan members. I previously listed and Eagle Picher whole house fan for sale. It is a very large exhaust air handler from 1949. Several members indicated that the price I was asking was unrealistic. Being a retired school teacher and not a collector, I appreciate your help. I am now asking $400. Today, the fan was safely removed from the attic. It is in fine working condition. The fan is currently in White Plains New York. I am happy to drive a reasonable distance to facilitate delivery. Thank you for your interest and advice. Joanne 914-419-0542 Last edited on Wed May 3rd, 2017 04:14 am by Joanne DiMartino |

If I was near NY I would take you up on the offer. If it's between a crap yard and, well a scrap yard, I have a freight dock and willing to pay for freight shipping if you have access to a pallet and shipping dock. I'm in the process of building a big shop and will need a big air mover in the future.

Hello Fan Members. My EAGLE PICHER fan has been safely removed from the attic. It was lighter than I expected. If anyone is interested, please contact me as it must be gone in two weeks. Not being a fan collector, I originally asked $800, then $400, and I have now reduce the price to $200. It would make me feel better to have the fan used and enjoyed by someone who appreciates it. Thank you Joanne

Oh, man... do I wish I had someplace to stash that thing... I'm maybe 10-15 minutes away... and your name looks familiar too, as I'm a "lifer" to the area. (Going to LaManda's for dinner tonight, matter of fact... local treasure all it's own...)

It's available but someone expressed interested in it for a camp lunchroom. If so, it's not going into retirement yet!

I certainly would, just for the sake of seeing something that big, local, and "in the wild"... but my wife would kill me if I delayed her calamari and pizza for a fan. I'm glad someone plans to put it to proper use and I hope they take it. I would just make something silly out of it and laugh at stuff flying around the room...

Hello fan members. A while back I wrote about my whole house Eagle Picher fan. I thought it had found a good home and a Boy Scout mess hall … although it has been paid for, it was never picked up and is disassembled and sitting in my garage. If anyone is interested in the fan please contact me. I am asking $200 and would refund the original purchaser.
