I am starting a new forum topic since the original forum post for the sale of the J. Loyd Davis fan collection is getting too long.

Our goal this year was to sell >150 fans.  We have thus far listed 101 fans for auction on Ebay and sold at least 90 of those.  So we are now down to the last 50 fans that we are selling from my father's collection this year.

The October issue of the AFCA Fan Collector magazine was published with our 2-page print ad and most AFCA members should have received it this week.  This is the last of the advertising we had planned for this year.

We have had many inquiries over the last few months about when we were going to sell the "best fans."  Now is the time!!

We very much appreciate the patience and support of the AFCA membership that we have received over the last 2 months.

We are rolling out a number of new things to improve the quality of our offerings:  1) high-quality photographs, 2) embedded videos in the Ebay listings, 3) a dedicated YouTube channel for the videos, and 4) weekly email alerts to AFCA members for those that subscribe.

So let's get the ball rolling ....

The week’s featured fan is an Edison C-Frame Bi-Polar Battery Fan!

Photos of the Edison C-frame and 7 other high-quality fans in this week’s auction are shown below.

I have attached a PDF at the end of this post that has high-quality photos of all the fans as well.

In addition, here is a link to an online version of the PDF for easy sharing with others.

In addition, we have setup a JLD.fanman2 YouTube channel with videos for 6 of this week’s fan showing them in operation.

Lots of international interest and bidding for the auction of 8 fans that closed today.

2 of the 3 fans that sold for more than $1K today went to international buyers.

There was only one fan that we have featured in our online and print advertising over the last 2+ months that had more inquiries than the Edison C-frame that sold today.

That fan is this week’s featured fan: Menominee "Bank Teller" Vertical Axis Fan !!

Photos of the Menominee Bank Teller Fan and 6 other high-quality fans in this week’s Ebay auction are shown below.

I have attached a PDF at the end of this post that has high-quality photos of all the fans as well. Here is a link to an online version of the PDF for easy sharing with others.

In addition, we have setup a JLD.fanman2 YouTube channel with videos for 6 of this week’s fan showing them in operation.

LOL.

We promise to wrap this up by 31 Dec. 2019 ...

Planning to start selling some of my dad's phonograph collection in 2020 and possibly 2021 as well.

SPOILER ALERT:  If we need to keep selling to support my mother's care, then we will sell the rest of my dad's fan collection in 2021 or 2022.

The hard-core collectors blowing their mad money on the primo fans makes it possible for us plebeians to buy the second and third tier fans for perhaps a bit less :P

If you have been waiting for a 6-wing Emerson with full rib base, now is your chance!!

Below are photos of the only 6-wing Emerson we have left to sell this year.  We believe this is the best Emerson we have sold or are going to sell in this year's auctions of my dad's collection.

UPDATE on the Emerson #12646

We were notified last night by a long-time AFCA member that the blade for this fan is NOT the original blade even though it is an antique Emerson blade (from a later model). The current blade assembly on the back of this fan is stamped brass and should be cast brass. This is a subtle difference (to us) but we know it can be important to experienced fan collectors since we had the same problem on a very nice GE pancake we listed (and ultimately cancelled) on Ebay just last week.

Further, this long-time AFCA member was also a good friend of my dad's and owns the correct blade with the cast brass hub assembly.  He has graciously decided to donate the correct blade since the proceeds will be used to support my mother's care. Since we will soon have the correct blade, we have cancelled the auction for this fan and plan to relist the fan soon, hopefully in next week's auction, but certainly before the end of the year.

The Davis family would like publicly thank this AFCA member for his kindness and generosity. At his request, we are not going to publicly identify him here, but are happy to share his name with other AFCA members in private settings.

UPDATE on the Emerson #1820

The same long-time AFCA member noted the same blade problem (stamped vs. cast brass blade assembly) as above for this fan as well.  We have updated the Ebay listing with the new information but have decided to proceed with the auction "as is" since we lack the correct blade.

This week's featured fan is an 12" C&C Type 1N Bi-Polar!!

Special thanks to AFCA members :clap:Steve, Lane, and Greg :clap:who all provided valuable input on the test setup so I could demonstrate that this 1890 fan worked (see embedded YouTube video below)!  That was the highlight of my month.

Photos of the C&C and 6 other quality fans in this week’s Ebay auction are shown below.

As per UPDATE post above, the Emerson #12646 Link Oscillator is being relisted this week with the correct/original blade with the cast brass assembly as an option.  Buyer can choose, at time of purchase, the correct original blade or stick with the non-original blade (good matching patina) if he/she prefers the look over originality.

12-16-19 UPDATE on the GE Type AB Form C

We thought we had the correct cage and blade since the updated cage has 10 S wires and the updated blade had a cast brass blade assembly.

But apparently both the cage and blade are from an earlier GE pancake model.  This can be a major issue with many advanced collectors.  So, regretfully, we are going to cancel this auction.

We do not have any plans to relist it at this time.  Our auctions are winding down and we need a lot more time to sort through my dad's inventory to try to find the correct blade and cage.

This is the last weekly alert for the JLD auctions.  We have now listed >150 fans for auction on Ebay since early September and have now sold >130.

We have received a lot of support, help, and encouragement from numerous AFCA members.

My family is VERY thankful for this support and wishes everyone the best holiday season.

The fans we have sold over the last 4 months represent about half of my father's collection of early electric and battery fans.  We are taking a break from fans in 2020 and will be shifting our efforts to raise money to support my mother's care by liquidating my father's 45-year collection of early antique phonographs.

Regarding the rest of my father's fan collection, our tentative plans are to sell the rest of his collection sometime in 2021 or 2022.  Exactly when will largely depend on how long it takes us to sell the phonograph collection.

A gallery view of 5 fans for sale in this week’s Ebay auction is below.

A link to an online PDF with higher quality photos of all the fans is here.

Please see the YouTube channel with videos for several of this week’s fan showing them in operation.

Finally the link to the Ebay JLD-fanman seller site is here.
