Somebody recently pointed out my greatest shame. The fan on my primary workbench.   I've been wanting to fix this up for a while and had planned on doing it in a high polish or black and polished bits. But, after thinking about it, it would make a great workbench/shop fan. It has style, it moves air, and is overall easy to work on(relative to some other fans). Here is the10LA in question.  So picking a shop-ish color that still jived with the mid-century look? Oh yeah, glossy rusty red, contrasted with the polished aluminum. Fortunately I had already gone over the fan to make sure it was a viable resto candidate. It had great bones and I already got it rewired and repaired the stator lead issue.     wqStarted last night with disassembly, stripping, painting, and finish. Also cleaned every bit and piece in the entire fan.                  Going to finish this one up sometime today. Just needs assembly, oiling, and fresh grease.

All done! Certainly looks better than the no-brand plastic fantastic. Ahaha What do y'all think? Upgrade or bust?  Approximately 8-10hrs labor in this one. Relatively short resto since there are so few parts compared to more expensive fans. Process photos:    Test for rotor to make sure end play is still right.                  And a video. :)

Nice job. I just got in my second later verion with the plastic blade and "kitchen" blue with cream colored cage in near perfect condition. They're nice fans, clean, simple, and they seem to just work. Glad you saved it.

I had intended on using a more modern type red, but after stripping the paint, I went with the 1950s-style rusty red gloss paint, kind of like they used to paint outdoor furniture with. Going to get the 1950s Polar cub in shape to replace the plastic bench fan instead. It doesn't need paint or anything, and I don't like the original paint. So won't mind using it as a bench fan. It needs a speed control, so have a vari-speed coming for it.

Cheers, Ryan! [size= ] Going to try this fan on a speed controller this evening and see how it does. IMO, the single speed LivelyAire runs a bit too fast. Has a cool sound, but not cool enough to listen to for hours on end. Haha
