I picked up a westy tank and need a switch. Entire assembly is missing but someone wired it directly and it works (just doesn't always start). Depending on my luck with the switch might be available for purchase in the near future.

This is the fan... note, nothing in the bottom, just the cord attached right to the motor. Style number is 83239.![]() What I believe I need looks like this: http://www.afcaforum.com/gallery/18/18_131812_420000000.jpg

83239 is a rather rare three speed tank. Maybe a two speed switch can be modified to a three speed one. This page is from a 1911 tank catalog.![]()

Yes, I came to the same realization. I don't think I'd be too bothered with it being a 2-speed though if I could find the switch. Don't imagine the motor would mind.

Every tank switch I have ever seen has three contacts (4 with off). 2 speeds are achieved by bridging 2. To make it three speeds, you just need a coil wound for it. The third speed is high.

I thought the third speed (one missing from most) is low. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-yhCGx4cIX4I/TY0VaVsUUiI/AAAAAAAAAKw/ZhOURGIn8Kk/s1600/1909+Westinghouse+Page+13.jpg

I simply meant it's the speed coil. It'll only have two contacts, the third is just straight power tap, i.e. high.
