Picked up this westinghouse fan from a antique shop up by my grandparents it worked fine until i took it apart to clean... at first the wires fell out of the switch which i resoldered and as I put it back together a tab holding the switch together broke off so im in need of a new switch, Which has been quite difficult to find one would anyone know of one that would work for this fan? And the other fan was sitting outside my dads barn for 20 something years the cord was gone so i added one works great it did have a speed coil but it was destroyed by rust I painted the base a few months ago(was just rust). This one I know nothing about so would like to know some info on it like a date it was likely made etc. The motor also gets very hot to the touch when running dont know if thats normal (also I was trying to upload multiple images is that possible if so how?) Both of those motors are likely shaded pole motors which normally get hot to the touch. Some get so hot it’s hard to hold your hand on there for long. But they should never have an overheated or burning smell. The switch for the Westinghouse can probably be sourced from a local hardware store if it’s a single speed . Shaded pole fans can run on high without a speed coil. So if the speed coil in the other one Is bad, you could wire it to just run on high. HOWEVER, if it sat out in the rain for years, I’d question the integrity of the electricals inside the motor and it should be checked very thoroughly beyond a visual inspection before using. Last time I ran the kenmore for a long time it only got uncomfortably hot so i guess that is not an issue I used the kenmore's old switch to get it to just turn on about 2 years ago from what i remember inside the housing it was really clean for sitting out in the elements. Ezekiel Cain wrote: The westinghouse fans a 2 speed and has no speed coil That's not possible, the arrangement that is on that particular version of the Westinghouse LivelyAire Fan you have pictured is a single speed fan (on and off) which means the switch would just click once for on and a second time for off. in order for a fan to be a 2 speed fan it has to have a speed coil of some sort built into the fan (which in the case of the Westinghouse LivelyAires and Standards is just a simple wirewound resistor screwed to the inside of the base of the fan and wired to a 3 position rotary switch where position one is high, position 2 is low and position 3 is off.

I understand that, but it was able to run at 2 different speeds im 95% certain of that and ive taken the entire fan apart and there is no speed coil just the switch but I digress. It had the power cord going to the switch and then the motor unless im missing something, there is nothing in the base of this particular fan.
