https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Original-Lake-Breeze-Motor-Hot-Air-Alcohol-12-Table-Fan-Wm-J-H-Strong/133663466350 The above listing on eBay is for a lake breeze hot air fan with the stirling engine. It's missing the cap and the copper burner that goes inside the base. This is definitely one of my wish list fans so I'm asking: Does anyone have one that they might be interested to sell? I would be interested in one that is similar to the one in the eBay listing, that is, with brass blade and cage. PM if interested to sell. I don't buy on eBay generally speaking - too expensive and to risky from a shipping point of view.

That would be the model to buy I think. I have a 16" Lake Breeze, similar Model A but the guards on the 16" ones are steel. A fun fan. I had just gotten mine running for Fanfair years ago and it blew up in Terry Fisher's face; no damage, but a nice scare. I found out the reason for the explosionl (missing vent pipe to the font). The missing cover on the ebay fan I think has been reproduced and the fans are pretty simple. A lot easier to "rewind" than an electric fan. I have to get mine running again.

There are some evaluations of Lake Breezes on Antiques Roadshow. I watched this one where they almost set the set on fire. Missing is the very important (and rare) probably glass chimney for the kerosene lamp. https://video.pbsnc.org/video/appraisal-lake-breeze-motor-co-fan-ca-1900-tlkep9/

Looks like that front crank shaft is all bent out of shape. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't they be running parallel to each other???

I think there may be a little slop in the mechanism. I don't see a clear problem but has been years since I worked on mine.

They’re cool fans but a bit of a pricey novelty in my opinion. I had a 12” but sold it as it just collected dust. It ran perfectly, but I maybe ran mine twice. They’re just not very practical. They run well on sterno in place of the alcohol burner. And it’s safer.

They are making brand new ones in India, seems like parts could be made there. Or Vietnam (Contact Dan N.)

David Here is one for sale on craigslist I do not know if this is the one you are looking for He has had it for sale for about a year on CL so it leads me to believe he is asking a hefty price for it Cam https://sacramento.craigslist.org/atq/d/auburn-antique-1919-hot-air-fan-lake/7262766207.html

I know the ginger snap seller. That price is easily double what that fan is worth IMHO. There is another seller in FLA with a similarly priced fan. I’ve made an offer of $1900 which was declined. In any event I am looking for the desk top smaller version.

I no longer have my photos I had of my font and the fan is packed away.

Louis, there's an ebay seller who sells new fonts so I went to look. Do you see the tiny vent pipe at the very left of the wick nestled up against the caps' threads. You may need to enlarge the photo. Terry, you beat me by 2 minuets posting and your arrow helped. Thanks. Want to get together for another explosive Hot Air Fan running session? Very helpful. Now all I need to find is a desktop model then I'll call you Steve to find the person that makes these wonderful new fonts. The one on eBay is missing this very thing I believe.

Steve, Thanks for the invitation but I have just now regrown my eye lashes, eye brows and singed hair. Do you remember the question I asked before we fired up that burner? "Hey Steve, why is the bottom of your burner sticking out instead of being flat"? You said, hey I don't know. Well, we found out. ![]() ![]() Sometimes we find out things about fans the hard way! Hope you are staying safe. BTW . . . Is that why that fan is now in storage?

Terry Fisher wrote: Steve,That's right Terry. You think I want to run it again and have it "blow"? The burner font is even more puckered out then it was back then. I have been amiss in getting around to making it run but did buy a short section of tiny brass tubing for the air vent. For those who wondered about our little excitement years ago at fanfair, we had a display of hot air fans, Terrys' and my Lake Breeze. When had several running at once when ka-boom; my fount exploded with a roar and some flame that got Terry's eyebrows and lashes and scared the whole bourse room I bet. No permanent damage luckily. For some reason the tiny air vent tube was missing on my font and, when lit, the flame from the burning wick got pulled into the font through the tine hole that should have had the small tube to keep that from happening. I had bought my 16" Model A Lake Breeze at a previous Fan Fair and had gone through it to see how it worked, cleaning, and lubricating. It was starting to run really well and, then.....
