Hello everyone the other day I was given a Graybar rebadged R & M fan that I had to replace the old headwire and cord on, and when I replaced the headwire and cord and went to test my work, the fan was running CCW rather than clockwise and I tried rewiring the headwire onto the switch in different combinations, and I got the fan to run clockwise but then the speed coil got super hot to the touch and started smelling like burnt marshmallows so I quickly unplugged it and I haven't used it since.

I was told it might be a bad speed coil, which if it is, I'll need a new speed coil, or see if someone could rewind the original speed coil for me.

The switch is ceramic and the fan is I believe a 10" model but not sure.

See picture below of the fan in question.

12 or 16? Not sure if the switches are different. But I have both

I think its a 10" as the motor housing looks too small to be a 12".

EDIT: I take that back, it is a 12" fan, which is bizarre, because I've never seen a 12" fan with as small of a motor housing as this fan has from this era of fans.

Did you get my PM? I sent you a picture of the switch I needed, although I think I may have figured out my problem, and there may not be anything wrong with my switch at all, just a bad headwire replacement years ago and someone possibly reinstalled the stator in the wrong way, although there doesn't seem to be a place for the headwire to go through the stator, unless it went under the stator? See picture below.

Hopefully anyways, I'm not guaranteeing anything, I may still need that switch yet, but I need to get this motor rewired first and see if that fixes the problem.
