 WANT TO BUY: 16-inch fan blade assembly for late 40's Hunter Zephair/Century/C-16 with polished aluminum overlapping blades and oscillator bell shoulder screw (with washer if it has one?) that holds oscillator linkage arm to bottom of oscillator bell...blades must be without dings or nicks and assembly must still be straight and in balance...if anyone has these two pieces and will let them go for a reasonable price let me know o.k.?...alternately, would consider a junker parts fan (with burned up motor, etc.) that still has a good balanced blade and oscillator shoulder screw...thanks, Rick Smith Last edited on Wed Sep 29th, 2021 05:47 pm by Rick Smith |

Those things are notorious for having rivet heads pop off on the blades.

Hey Jeff, it's kind of funny that you mentioned the rivets being 'notorious' for popping loose on these blades, in the 25 years or so that I've been fooling with old fans I've never heard of this being an issue with any Hunter desk fan blades, not once...still it's a big country I guess and maybe there were some issues with some of them at some point but not around here in Memphis where they were made post-war...anyway, if you have one that's still straight and in balance I'd be willing to take a chance on it if you'd like to part with it for a reasonable price...still need the oscillator bell shoulder screw also...if you can help out on either drop me a line o.k.?...thanks again, Rick

This is in fact a common problem with Hunter fan blades from this era and it's not limited to the C-16. The window fan blades suffered as well.

Jeez guys, looks like I've started a pile on here...Ha!...I said earlier that this was funny because in 25 years or so I had never heard of this issue with Hunter's desk fan blades but now it's looking like knowledge of every one of them that ever had bad rivets is coming out of the woodwork so let me try and refocus the topic of interest...the deal is that the blade assembly that I have and need a replacement for does NOT have bad rivets in it, one of the blades is out of clock with the others from a drop or fall while running as best as I can tell and the balance is WAYYYY out of whack from the weight being shifted to the side of the assembly with the out of clock blade where two of the blades are closest together now...I've tried as best as I can to finesse the bent spider arm on that blade closer back to being in clock with the others and even though the balance is better now I have mostly failed in these efforts..for what it's worth.the blades and rivets on this blade assembly could'nt be torn free from the spider or they surely would have by now with the attempts that I've made to correct the bent arm so back to the subject at hand: I'm still in need of a straight, in-balance 16-inch polished aluminum (or chromed, whichever it is) blade assembly for this fan AND an oscillator bell shoulder screw for the oscillator linkage arm to attach it to the bottom of the bell...anybody have a couple of spares stuck back that you could part with?...a junk fan (burned up motor, etc.) that still has a good blade assembly and oscillator shoulder screw would be acceptable...drop me a line if you can help out here o.k.?...thanks, Rick Last edited on Fri Sep 17th, 2021 11:37 pm by Rick Smith |

Can't guarantee as I have parted with more than 3/4 of my collection at this point and it will be a few weeks before I can sort through the remaining stuff. The reason we are bringing up the rivet issue these blades have is because it's actually not too easy to find a blade for one of these for that reason, among others. The good blades that have survived are on running fans. I wish you luck in finding a blade and if one crosses my path I will certainly inform you.

Anybody out there with a junker (burned up motor, etc.) 1940 to early 50's Hunter Zephair, Century, C-16 parts fan with a good straight in-balance blade like the one pictured and that still has an oscillator bell shoulder screw for attaching the linkage arm to the bell that you would like to part with for a reasonable price?...let me know...thanks, Rick

Hey fellow fan fans, it's been a little over 3 months now and 1800 + views and I'm still looking for and in need of a good straight in-balance blade assembly like the one in the photo for this fan and the oscillator bell to linkage arm shoulder screw also OR a junker parts fan (burned up motor, missing parts, incomplete, etc.) that still has these 2 pieces...I'm 99% sure that there's blade assemblies and oscillator shoulder screws and/or junker parts fans out there that still have these parts so don't be shy, let me hear from you...thanks in advance, Rick
