I just joined this site, so I apologize if I post something incorrectly. I have my Grandpa's fan that I'm trying to sell to someone who knows its value and will appreciate it. Its in pretty excellent condition considering how old it is, and is fully functional. Some rusting on the cage part but the golden blades are flawless. Please inform me if I'm way off, but I'd like to ask $500 for it. Any advice is much appreciated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news & don't want to insult you, but to collectors that is a $50 fan.

To me, $50 is generous. I’d say closer to $30. Unfortunately no one is going to pay for the sentimental value you place on the fan.  Maybe you should restore it and keep it in his memory .

That is a nice fan with the bakelite base, but this is not a rare fan. the base was changed a bit later and it was made in various colors all the way to the early 1970s with same blade and slightly different grilles. They are nice quiet runners , i agree with the fellows polish it up and keep it for sentimental reasons, but they arent particularly valuable. They were made in prolific numbers over the decades... Welcome to our site!!!!

You might look at the “sold” listings through eBay’s advanced search feature. Btw, there’s one near me on FB marketplace for $50. It was $150 but reduced and hasn’t sold yet.

Thank you for the replies. I was hoping it was a rare one. Maybe I'll try it on ebay lol.

You should just keep it as it was your grandfather’s. Or maybe give it to a family member? Shipping will be more than the value of it, and if you don’t know what you are doing it will most likely get damaged in shipping.
